Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) is a non-profit organization based in Burlington, Vermont which assists local communities in providing free medical services for the uninsured. VIM staff members assist local communities in implementing the VIM clinic model, providing resources and consultations to each community.
The VIM model relies on retired medical professionals and community volunteers who can deliver health care services. VIM clinics emphasize the "Culture of Caring," a practice which treats every person with dignity and respect. Once established, each clinic becomes part of the VIM Alliance and received services from the national office. BEND Business Review said "The nonprofit group Volunteers in Medicine provides medical care to those who need it most and can afford it the least."[1]
